Councilwoman Carlina Rivera has been a champion of PowerPlay throughout her tenure, and we are eternally grateful for her support over the years. We jumped at the opportunity to serve young people in her district and were introduced to the administration team at PS/MS 188 – The Island School. We are overjoyed and thankful for the opportunity to host an in-person (first of the year) Girl Power Day, serving over 80 scholars at this school.
It has been such a difficult year for our young people, and we wanted to commemorate their resilience and determination. Our team led the scholars through a series of sports and activities that incorporated teamwork, healthy competition, and most importantly FUN! Not only did our young people walk away with a memorable experience, but they each left with swag as a token of our appreciation. Special shout-out to our partner Gogo SqueeZ for providing tasty apple sauce packets to the group.
