STARS CGI is a coalition of ten leading nonprofits spanning disciplines—sports, literature, art, activism, and beyond. Over the past decade, we’ve joined forces to advocate for girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth from systemically underserved communities—supporting their growth emotionally, academically, and physically to be strong, skilled, and successful leaders. The STARS Coalition has raised over $12 million from the New York City Council and served more than 500,000 across New York City.
Funded at $1.4 million by the New York City Council, STARS CGI offers the City of New York a unique opportunity to support the healthy development of thousands of girls and young women of color.
With support and funding from the New York City Council, STARS CGI develops the life and leadership skills of NYC girls through after-school and summer sports, academic enhancement, STEM, college prep and the arts.
The ten partners—PowerPlay NYC, Girls Write Now, Groundswell, Lower Eastside Girls Club, Row New York, Sadie Nash Leadership Project, The Armory Foundation, Figure Skating in Harlem, Girls for Gender Equity, and Bella Abzug Leadership Institute—all leaders in the out-of-school time space, continued to create thousands of program slots and deepen programming for girls in all five boroughs.
