The girls of Super STARS Leadership Academy had an unforgettable day of learning and inspiration at Citi Field, where they had the unique opportunity to shadow the incredible women behind the New York Mets. They witnessed all the efforts that go into a 9-inning baseball game from start to finish.
The day kicked off with a press conference led by the Mets manager, Carlos Mendoza, who provided the latest updates on players and the upcoming game. This was followed by some words of encouragement from Nancy Elder, Head of Communications, and a Q&A session with Mets staff. Staffers spoke about how they successfully navigated their way into careers in the sport industry.
After a tour of the Mets’ offices, the girls had the unique experience of shadowing female staff members in their daily roles. This hands-on experience allowed the girls to see firsthand that the world of sports is much more than what happens on the field.
And what better way end such an exciting day than to sit down and enjoy a classic game of baseball- a first time experience for many of the girls. Huge thanks to the New York Mets for being such great host and providing a once in a lifetime experience for our SSLAers.
