Five of our talented SSLA girls recently had the opportunity to participate in the Junior One Hundred Challenge, an inspiring event hosted by One Hundred Black Men New York (OBMNY). This experience provided our girls with golf instruction from top PGA professionals, allowing them to step out of their comfort zones and gain exposure to a sport that is often unfamiliar to young women. The day was not just about learning the game, but also about breaking down barriers and expanding their horizons.
The event was an opportunity for our girls to challenge stereotypes, develop confidence, and prove that golf is for everyone. They networked with other youth participants, exchanged ideas and discussed creative ways the PGA could engage with more young people. The conversations were filled with innovative ideas to make the sport and organization more accessible to diverse communities.
