This year, we stepped away from the traditional gala format to create something uniquely reflective of who we are as a sports-based organization. We wanted our board members, honorees, and guests to experience firsthand the energy, excitement, and camaraderie that define our programs.
The theme, Suits, Sneakers, and Sparkles, set the tone for a night of elegance and fun. Our guests arrived dressed to impress in their sharpest suits and coolest kicks, ready to dive into an evening that blended sophistication with playfulness.
Interactive gaming stations featuring fencing, basketball, pickleball, golf, and floor hockey were a crowd favorite, bringing out the competitive spirit in everyone. Even our top corporate partners let loose on the court, embracing the friendly rivalry with enthusiasm. Tribeca Rooftop was the perfect setting for raising glasses and indulging in a spread of culinary delights, creating an atmosphere of celebration and connection.
The award ceremony left everyone inspired. Emotional and heartfelt speeches from our incredible honorees—Monica McNutt, Abby Smith, Principal Joan Duvernay, and Marissa Shorenstein—captured the essence of our mission. Rising sports analyst Pepper Persley brought her energy and insight to the Purple Carpet, conducting interviews and delivering a play-by-play recap of the night’s events.
A standout moment came during a thoughtful Q&A session led by Dan Mannix, who hosted a conversation with honorees Monica McNutt and Abby Smith, as well as a family whose lives have been profoundly impacted by PowerPlay.
