This year’s STARS CGI Youth Summit was a powerful gathering centered on the theme: “Self-Care to Community-Care: WE Got US!” We selected this theme to foster a deep sense of community and shared values among our young leaders, reinforcing the idea that personal well-being and collective care go hand in hand.
The event began with an inspiring keynote from NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, who set the tone for a day of empowerment and leadership. Participants then engaged in 10 dynamic workshops, covering topics from skill-building to creative writing, all designed to help them build confidence, resilience, and a stronger sense of community.
A highlight of the day was the STARS CGI alum panel, where former participants shared their journeys, reminding the next generation that they are never alone. Spoken word performances brought the theme to life, emphasizing the power of storytelling and self-expression, while DJ Autumn kept the energy high throughout the event.
The summit was a testament to the strength and potential of our youth. As we continue to build spaces where young leaders can thrive, the message remains clear: WE Got US!
