In honor of After-school Professionals Appreciation Week, we are recognizing our huge after-school community!! Our team has come together to nominate one of our teammates who has gone above and beyond their role in the after-school field. This superhero truly represents the Heart of After-school. This year we are proud to honor Coach Amara!
Amara serves as a mentor at several Brooklyn sites in our STARS Series after-school program where she says that “being a coach for PowerPlay means being someone I needed when I was younger…With PowerPlay, I am here to mentor, advise, and show these young girls that they can do anything and everything they put their minds to.” In addition to being a full time student at Adelphi University, Amara finds time to serve as a coach for the organization Wellness in the Schools. She recently represented PowerPlay at the NFL Annual Meeting for their “In the Huddle: A Morning of Community Service” speaking on the importance of encouraging girls to participate in sports. Amara leads by example and brings dedication to our group of coaches. We’re proud to have her in our organization and she is truly part of the heart of after-school.
