For the second consecutive year we are honored to work with Shantae Edwards, who will be our emcee for the 2016 STARS Citywide Girls Leadership Summit on June 9. Besides being right behind our mission at STARS, Shantae is a balancer-of-many-things, all of which help her in her personal mission, which is to inspire others to fulfill their highest potential.
Shantae J. Edwards is a big sister, daughter, god mom, partner, teacher, speaker and passion pusher. She is a Chicago native who loves sneakers and dope eye-wear. She is a first-generation college graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who is dedicated to exposing, educating, and providing opportunities for awareness for youth to experience life with the chance to be the BEST VERSION of themselves. She is a master in the power of communication and believes it is the link to transformational and positive change.
When she is not empowering people from the stage, Shantae J. spends her time working on her MBA planning for the day when she opens up a community center dedicated to young people who have lost a parent from Breast Cancer.
Shantae J.’s purpose in life is to inspire others to fulfill their highest potential. As the Founder and Chief Operating Officer of I AM D.O.P.E., Inc. (Dreaming Of Possibilities Everyday), a self-empowerment and story-sharing enterprise designed to create positive narratives saving humanity one story at a time through workshops, speaking engagements, blog writing and transformative programming. She is a “Certified Passion Pusher” and empowerment speaker, using self-expression and inspiration to change the world one high-five at a time and reminding people that they matter and so does their story.
